Product Description

With these new differential shims, you can improve the stability and predictability of your 2.0 Buggy or Truggy! The team discovered that TKR9145 differential shims improve stability while landing jumps or in rhythm sections, as well as have better acceleration and consistency across extended runs or bash sessions. They achieve many of the same benefits as the new differential o-rings (TKR5144B) by moving some of the resistance “work” from the oil to the shim and allowing the use of lighter differential oil. TKR9145 is made of the same long-lasting hardened steel as the original differential shims (TKR5145B).

TKR9145 is a direct replacement/option for TKR5145B and is compatible with all other new differential parts (TKR9115B, TKR5144B and TKR9150B) and existing 2.0 differential parts (TKR5112X, TKR5114XB, TKR9115, TKR5144, TKR5145B, TKR9112, TKR9114, TKR9115, TKR9149, TKR9149A, and TKR9150). TKR9145 cannot be used with TKR5113 or TKR5113S. They are recommended to be used in all differentials of all vehicles for all track surfaces.

Feel of TKR9145
Initial/Breakaway ResistanceHigher than TKR5145B
Continuous ResistanceHigher than TKR5145B

With TKR9145 you may feel additional resistance before the internal gears begin to rotate and the added resistance will stay once they begin spinning.

Recommended Oil

Please view the setup documents below for our recommended configuration and oils if using several of the new differential parts together (TKR9115B case, TKR5144B o-rings, TKR9145 shims, and TKR9150B gears).

During testing, we observed that TKR9145 feels as if heavier oil was used than the prior TKR5145B shims. When transitioning from TKR5145B to TKR9145, we recommend reducing the oil weight by 1,000 cst.

Installation Instructions

Watch the video here for detailed instructions on how to install the shims.

Cup Side Shim
With the shim tabs angled away from the bottom of the cup (pointing up), align the shim tabs with the cross-pin slots and push the shim to the bottom of the cup.

Gear Side Shim
When installing the top shim, the tabs should be angled away from the spur or bevel gear (pointing into the diff cup). When installing the gear on the differential case, rotate the shim tabs so they are perfectly centered between the gear screw holes. Once the gear is installed on the case, look through the screw holes and verify there is no gap between the bottom of the gear and the case. If there is a gap, it could be due to an alignment issue with the shim and the process will need to be repeated.
